Rational Metaphysics
“Speculative Philosophy is the endeavor to frame a coherent, logical necessary system of general ideas, the best one can, and unflinchingly explore the interpretation of experience in terms of that scheme…all constructive thought, on the various special topics of scientific interest, is dominated by some such scheme, unacknowledged, but no less influential in guiding the imagination. The importance of philosophy lies in its sustained effort to make such schemes explicit, and thereby capable of criticism and improvement.” ‍ Alfred North Whitehead
This site is dedicated to the intellectual science of Rational Metaphysical Philosophy.
Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy that studies the first principles of being, identity, change, space and time, causality, necessity and possibility. It includes questions about the nature of consciousness, and the relationship between mind and matter. In short, it addresses the question, what is the total nature of reality, and what is its source? Metaphysics is the attempt to analyze, and describe rationally what Reality is, including its non-physical aspects.
Idealism Is the metaphysical philosophy which reasons that reality is centered in consciousness, and consciousness, or mind is the foundation of all phenomena; it concludes that there is no physical reality existing beyond, or outside of consciousness. According to idealism, because the only thing we can be sure to exist is our own experience, and experiences are perceived and made intelligible by the mind alone, the perceptions (experiences) are given form by our ideas and they are sustained by our ideas. Hence, our experience of reality, and therefore reality itself is created by our ideas. This is the philosophy of Idealism.
Rational Metaphysics
Is dedicated to discovering the true nature of Reality, and our relationship to that Reality, as individuals, and as a society, with the goal to experience our best, most fulfilling, and harmonious experience possible. Metaphysical truth is not to be confused with religious dogma. (please read the blog post titled Religion vs. Spirituality) Metaphysical Truth may be found everywhere, in all the traditions, and schools of thought that humanity has developed through the ages, and the freedom to explore and take freely from any source, is our sacred right as spiritually autonomous beings. These days, many are fearful of traditional religious dogmas, because many churches have failed to live up to their own creeds, and many reject the Bible, because of the fantastic nature of its content. However, these two forces, historical religious dogmas, and the Bible, both remain powerfully imprinted on the collective subconscious, and so there is a need for a reckoning. If the philosophies and religions of the past are failing to serve our current spiritual state of development, we need to look deeper. The Bible is the foundation of western religion and spirituality, including most New Thought spiritual approaches. So getting a grip on the Bible is an important issue. Do we find sense in it? part of it? Do we read it literally or symbolically? Historically? Scientifically? Start by asking: Who was Jesus? This is a tremendous mystery, because he certainly did live briefly in a small, obscure corner of the world, during a dark time in our history, but his impact on the subsequent course of human development is inexplicable, unless an event of deeper spiritual significance was unfolding. The solution to the mystery is to transcend the nonsensical creeds of failed organized religions, and understand the Jesus we read about in the Bible to be a symbolic metaphor, depicting the development of our own inner light, our intelligence, which will intuitively unveil spiritual truth that is within the book of nature, within the book of our own life experiences, and within books written by imperfect women and men through the centuries of our collective spiritual evolution. We must leave no stone unturned. The goal is to develop our real, individual understanding of reality, so that we may live in harmony with the ultimate order of the universe.
Questions for atheists and agnostics:
Did the universe have a starting point? (Astronomy experts tell us that the Universe originated from a central point, though we cannot of ourselves verify the truth of it.)
Does this reality (the universe) have a source? A cause? - it did come from somewhere. It can’t possibly be thought to have popped into being from nowhere and nothing.
Does it seem to you that Reality sprung from a single source?
How might that source be characterized? Infinite? Powerful?
Does it seem likely that the universe is held together by a single unifying force?
Does Reality have a character which indicates Order? Or is it haphazard?
If we make judgements and decisions which are in alignment with that order, can these be called True judgements and decisions? - so there is a thing called Truth with which we might choose to align ourselves.
What are love and hate? Is love a thing? Is hate a thing? Are they real in the sense that they cause changes in reality, they exhibit the power to create effects? - We know these forces are very real, because we experience their effects constantly.
The love and hate that can take hold of your heart and mind, can these be physically seen, touched, heard, tasted, smelled? Does a love creating compound exist? - This establishes that there is a level of reality which is beyond our ability to perceive it with our physical senses, it is the level where love and hate exist, these are spiritual forces, which exist on the spiritual level of reality.
Love is the most creative thing we experience universe, and hate the most destructive. (This is not a question.)
Do we have a choice to align with one or the other? As we acknowledged earlier that we have the capacity to choose to align with Truth, thereby bringing oneself into a state of increasing harmony with the Universe?
To align with love and truth is positive, and to align with hate and what is false is negative, correct?
To align oneself with the Universe is positive?
To enter into a harmonious alignment with society is positive?
May we call this choice to align with the positive, to the best of our ability, the proper and noble human state of being for every individual?
Is it the universal human condition to gradually learn what is the truth of the Universe?
Is it the universal human condition to gradually gain the capacity to be more loving and less selfish? Is this a noble and worthy goal?
The Single, Infinite, Orderly, Positive, Unifying Source of Universal Reality, can be called God. (It does not matter what you call it, it does exist.)
The Santa Claus-like God, which is the basis of many traditional religions, obviously does not exist.

The circle represents The Ultimate Reality, and contains the unity of all elements.
The cross signifies the virtuous lives ruled by the inflowing Divine Love, uniting the elements.
The four squares represent the interdependent elements (earth, air, fire, water) on both the earthly plane and the spiritual correspondence.
